Keith Schuman

Mr. Keith Schuman is a 1991 graduate of the New York Institute of Technology, earning his Bachelor of Science in Architectural Technology. Changing career paths in 1999, he became a classroom teacher for 12 years (teaching 5 th grade for nine years, and 3 rd grade for three years). In his 13th year, he became a Music and Computer teacher. A year after re-locating to Palm Coast, he was hired as the Imagine School Performing Arts Teacher,
where he taught Music and Theater for ten years.

Mr. Schuman has been playing drums for over forty years. He is a third-generation drummer, following in the percussive footsteps of his grandfather and father, yet mostly self-taught. Formal vocal training began in junior high school and continued through high school, where he performed in select musical groups, participated in the prestigious New York State Music

Association (NYSMA) competitions, and earned scores that qualified him for parts in All-County and All-State Choruses. His love for theater earned him roles in high school shows such as Kiss Me Kate, and the lead role in Bye Bye Birdie. While these events took place earlier in his life, they strengthened the foundation of his love for music.

Throughout the years, Mr. Schuman has accompanied choruses and individual singers as both a drummer and vocalist. As the Performing Arts teacher at Imagine School, he led his students in chorus concerts and musical theater productions. His creative ability extends to after-school performing arts classes, clubs, and summer camps ranging from Musical Theater to Bucket Drumming (a.k.a. rePercussion) to Comedy Improv (a.k.a. ABC Improv). Although not associated with music, his undergraduate degree served him well because it is where he met his lovely wife. They now share a legacy of musical, adult children: 2 sons adding the 4th generation of “SchuMEN” drummers; and a daughter gifted in vocals, piano, keyboard, acoustic guitar, ukulele, violin, tin whistle, and pretty much any instrument that is laid before her.  The greatest calling of Mr. Keith Schuman has been dedication to worship ministry at various churches in Flagler County. A close second is sharing the love of music and performing arts with children while helping them to develop a growth mindset. His wife has dubbed him the Musical Pied Piper, leading children to confidence in knowing that if academics are challenging, learning music levels the field for an opportunity to excel with confidence.
