If you miss a lesson without giving notice ahead of time, it will count as a “no show” and cannot be made up. We have our system set up to text you a reminder message the day before you have a scheduled lesson, so that should help!

Bring a notebook to write down weekly assignments and things to remember. You should also bring a folder to put sheet music in, and purchase your own method books so you can mark your music and write in them. We recommend you wait to purchase books until you and your instructor are certain which work best for you. This is an ongoing investment as you progress.

We follow the Flagler County Public Schools Calendar. When they are closed, we are closed, with the exception of certain teacher work days, of which we will notify all students.

Yes, most certainly. You are more than welcome to sit in on your child’s lesson.

We provide students with the foundation and techniques to be able to perform in multiple genres. We teach through all genres that appeal to our students, from classical, to rock, to jazz, to pop, to worship, and so on. Students learn how to use their instruments in the most healthy, optimal way, across the board of genres.

Yes! We have two annual recitals; one in the Winter and one in the Spring. We also encourage and prepare our students to audition for and participate in shows put on by the Flagler Playhouse. We participate in the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC) Festivals Program on the District and State level, where students perform and receive a rating and feedback from accomplished musicians and teachers. We also participate in the NFMC Stephen & Jeanie Foster Vocal Competition, which awards music scholarships. We are currently working on an additional program where students can perform for the members of local Senior Living Facilities.

A piano is ideal, but if you don’t have one, you can use a free iPad or tablet app to practice on until you’re able to get an electric keyboard or piano. For an electric keyboard, we suggest weighted keys, or at least semi-weighted keys, so that the feel of the keyboard is similar to that of a piano. We also suggest at least 61 keys in size and if you can, a sustain pedal is a great addition.

Having your own instrument at home gives you more opportunity to practice and work on what you learn in your lessons. In lessons, we do have instruments for students to use. If you are trying out an instrument to see if you like it, you don’t have to buy your own to begin with. If you decide that you do enjoy the instrument you are learning to play and want to continue, then we do suggest for you to purchase your own. Our instructors can help you pick out the make and model that will work best for you.

None! You can be a complete beginner or you can have professional experience. We’ll work with you, on your level.

Our lessons require a Terms of Service signature, so you need to be at least 18 years old to apply, or have your parent/guardian apply on your behalf.

Most definitely! We encourage it!

Lessons can be in increments of 30 minutes, 45 minutes, and 60 minutes. Lessons take place once or twice a week, depending on preference.

We encourage students to practice regularly throughout the week to solidify new concepts they’ve learned in their lessons and to promote healthy progress. 15-30 minutes a day of deliberate and mindful practicing can be sufficient, depending on the age and difficulty level of the student.
