Ashia Barnes

Classical soprano and Palm Coast native Ms. Ashia Barnes is an alumni of the prestigious Manhattan School of Music where she earned her degree of bachelor of music in classical voice with her voice teacher Mignon Dunn. Ms. Barnes chose to attend Manhattan School of Music after earning her Associate of Arts degree in music education under the tutelage of mezzo soprano Mrs. Janet Rabe-Meyer. During her time at MSM, she has performed in Manhattan School of Music’s concert choir, Sophomore performance class, and renowned soprano Catherine Malfitano’s Junior opera theater. Her most recent performances include “The Queen of The Night” in Manhattan School of Music’s production of Mozart’s most famous opera Die Zauberflöte,, and “Donna Anna” in Mozart’s Don Giovanni . She has been accepted into some of the most top music programs such as the Berlin Opera Academy and has competed in top competitions such as the Metropolitan Opera’s Laffont Competition at the district level. While in attendance at MSM, Ashia gained many years of vocal pedagogy, diction coaching, and acting standard. Because of this, her number one priority is to help a singer find “their special voice.”
After earning her bachelors, Ashia Barnes will pursue her career as an opera singer and go on to perform in many opera houses around the world. She has pledged to always share her knowledge and experiences by teaching today’s youth about the wonders of performing arts.
